OUR GOAL

Open Gate Assisting was started as a solution for streamlining the relationship between camera department and productions looking for assistants.

Building your Camera department.

Having worked in a range of projects spanning feature films, music videos, commercials, documentary and short films that fit a spectrum of budgets - we’ve seen what productions need from the camera department and pride ourselves in providing that.

By combining a first and second camera assistant that have a positive experience working together, and expansive equipment experience, we offer a one stop shop for your camera department needs allowing you to focus on other things.

ABOUT US

Myles Docherty and Hannah Sweetnam met on set after working in the scottish industry as freelance camera assistants. They formed an effective working relationship and with positive feedback from heads of department, decided to start offering themselves as a first and second assistant team.

This lead to their work on feature films such as ‘Shiver Me Timbers’ and ‘Primal Games’ as well as commercials, gallery shoots and funded short films.

Both members havea a very good get it done attitude and have excellent DIY skills for fixing any scenario.

Myles has years of expereince in camera assistant and took time out of the industry to study a masters in cinematography at MetFilm London allowing for knowledge of the DP’s needs and requiremnts. With a strong work ethic and excellent team leadership skills Myles is confident on getting the job done. Clean and efficient camera builds as well as tools are a passion for Myles and he is always looking for ways to customise set ups and remove technical worries from the cinematographer.

A motivated and practically-minded individual with a positive attitude and passion for the camera department. Eager to work hard, add value to any team and consistently develop through hands-on training, research and experience.
